What to Expect

Life on a Fire Crew

This is not a desk job. Here is what a season with Outback looks like, so you know what you are signing up for.

01

Seasonal, on-call work

Fire season is seasonal work. You are on call, and when a dispatch comes in, you roll out with your crew.

02

Travel the West

Assignments take crews across the West. Recent fires had us in Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Idaho and New Mexico.

03

Extended assignments

Most assignments last 14 days or longer. Expect to live in fire camp and pack for the long haul.

04

Hard work, real rewards

Long, physical days on the fireline or in camp, with hazard pay and the chance to move up quickly.
